Multimedia Classes

Student Projects

Student music production and video projects are completed during summer camps or after school programs.

MUSIC PRODUCTION

During summer camps or after-school programs, students complete music and audio production projects by recording lead and background vocals themselves. The program teaches the basics of track recording, signal path, equalization, and more to help students succeed in their projects.

CINEMATOGRAPHY/
FILMMAKING

Learning the art of moviemaking is a hands-on experience for students. They take on various roles such as scriptwriters, camera operators, lighting crew, set crew, and film editors, among others. Throughout this process, students gain valuable experience in career paths, team-building, and collaboration, just to mention a few of the soft skill-sets that they acquire.

Course Objectives

In our classroom, all projects begin and are available for students to take home to work on during the week. Upon returning to class, students will review and evaluate each other’s work with encouragement from the instructor. The instructor will suggest and demonstrate better solutions for the students’ productions and add a few new elements to the exercise for the project’s next step. The projects will be completed in approximately five steps, and then the next class will be solely for the purpose of reviewing and introducing the next project. We will then proceed with the following five lessons.

At KRE8ivU, teamwork is the fundamental principle. While each student will originate their project, they will also collaborate. To effectively teach production, each student must experiment with all process aspects. Therefore, at KRE8ivU, one student will produce another student’s vocals and switch roles. Alternatively, one student will mix a student’s project, and the other will master it.

Students are encouraged to collaborate on projects involving lyrics and music as part of the writing skill lessons. They are also made aware of copyright law and taught about copyright infringement, including recent high-profile cases.
